Copenhagen setlist
29.04.2006 -- The Rock, Copenhagen, Denmark [120 min]
Attendance: 350
Soundcheck: You Lose, Are You Ready?, Bonny Lee (partial?)
Set: Critical Mass, Sail On, Triggerman, In Our Tree, Neverland, No Evil -> Hey Jane, Kill Devil Hills -> Devil Dog, Hyena, Coalmine Pony, Bonny Lee -> The Wheel, Plan #1
Notes: An intimate show in a cosy venue. The general sound tonight is excellent, unfortunately the vibraphone is inaudible for many songs. Bent wears a football shirt again. "Critical mass" starts off a little subdued but picks up drive during a floating Snah solo & eventually manages to greatly open this focused show. Just as the previous shows this concert tends heavily towards the new material. The new songs are being delivered with great drive, confidence & power. Bent looks very content with "his" players, he is still giving detailed cues to the band. "Triggerman" features two solos: first we get the jazzy vibes & then a quiet, deep Snah-part. "Neverland" receives a huge cheer from the crowd. The first real mindblowing highlight of the concert is an insanely powerful version of "Kill Devil Hills": the band keeps repeating the massive riff over & over again, supported by great video-projections of exploding bombs seen through a Pentagon satellite, just like the footage from the first Gulf War -- a moment of genuine "S.T.G."-like proportions. Then they totally turn the quiet outro upside down & make this a droning feedback part that fluently leads into "Devil dog" . Wow! "Bonny Lee" (12 min) rocks very hard before the band takes it down to a very quite space which directly segues into "The wheel" (20 min). There is no encore tonight due to a 1 am curfew at the venue. On the setlist as encore but not played: "You lied".
Thanks to Michael Wurzer (jtr) for the soundcheck & setlist documentation -- see you tomorrow!
Motorpsycho will play Rostock in about three hours!
